Does Honda Make Acura?

You may have heard that Acura is owned by Honda, but does Honda make Acura cars? Yes, Honda Motor Company is the entity that makes Acura models and that owns the Acura brand. Honda created the Acura company during the 1980s. It was very expensive at the time for Japanese automakers to export automobiles to the U.S. due to restrictions placed on exports by the government of Japan. So, Honda started Acura, its first luxury car company, in 1986. This allowed the company to export higher-margin luxury cars, which made more financial sense than exporting other vehicles with lower margins. The company eventually started doing most of its manufacturing in Marysville, Ohio, where you’ll find most of the dedicated people who make Acura cars.
